The regional award recognizes outstanding career and technical education professionals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and commitment to preparing students for success in the workforce and beyond.

“To be recognized by a group of my peers and colleagues in the CTE profession is truly an honor,” Hensley said. “I am humbled to be the recipient of the 2026 ACTE Region II Postsecondary Professional of the Year.”

In addition to his leadership at McDowell Tech, Hensley is serving as President-Elect of the North Carolina chapter of ACTE.

“Brandon’s recognition is incredibly well deserved and speaks to the quality of leadership he provides our students, faculty, and community,” said Dr. JW Kelley, President of McDowell Technical Community College. “His work exemplifies what career and technical education is intended to accomplish—connecting students with meaningful educational opportunities that lead to strong careers while meeting the workforce needs of our region.”
