Haywood Community College Small Business Center Welcomes New Director

The Haywood Community College Small Business Center has announced a new Director. Linda Lamp will oversee this area for the college, working directly with small businesses in Haywood County to support their needs from start-up to expansion and much more.
Linda Lamp is a public sector and nonprofit leader with over 25 years of experience in workforce and economic development, community engagement, and nonprofit management. She specializes in supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs, particularly in rural and underserved communities, by aligning workforce strategies with business needs to drive sustainable growth.
Her most recent role was serving as the Economic and Workforce Development Strategist for the Southwestern Commission, where she secured over $1.5 million in funding to expand business outreach, job training initiatives, and access to employment resources. Her work strengthened regional economies by helping small businesses navigate workforce challenges and develop strategies for local talent.
Previously, as Executive Director of WNC Communities, Linda led programs that supported rural community development, agriculture businesses, and forestry projects across 20 counties, managing over $2.6 million in grants and programs. She has also held leadership roles with the Asheville Humane Society and Make-A-Wish Foundation, where she built partnerships and led successful fundraising and outreach efforts.
A skilled communicator, facilitator, and programming strategist, Linda is a graduate of UNC-CH and holds additional certifications in nonprofit management, leadership, and economic development. She is committed to strengthening rural communities by championing small businesses, fostering entrepreneurship, and promoting inclusive, sustainable economic growth.
