Dr. Hawes is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist who provides comprehensive care for women at every stage of life, including preventive care, gynecologic services, obstetric care and the management of complex and chronic conditions. He is known for combining evidence-based medicine with a thoughtful, personal approach that prioritizes safety, trust and long-term health.

With more than two decades of experience in women’s health, Dr. Hawes brings a depth of clinical expertise to the community. He spent nearly 20 years caring for patients at Asheville Women’s Medical Center and has held leadership roles focused on quality, patient safety and clinical research. His background also includes service as a physician in the United States Navy Medical Corps, where he cared for patients in both routine and high-risk settings.

“My goal is to provide care that is not only medically excellent, but also compassionate and individualized,” Dr. Hawes said. “Women deserve to feel heard, respected and fully informed as partners in their health care.”

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Hawes has extensive experience in clinical research and quality improvement, serving as a principal investigator for national women’s health studies and participating on multiple quality and patient safety committees.
