Team members from Mission Hospital present a check for $10,000 to representatives from ABCCM Monday at Mission Hospital.

In recognition of National Volunteer Month, Mission Hospital presented a $10,000 donation to Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM), recognizing the organization as its 2025 Top Volunteer Organization. The designation reflects the significant number of volunteer hours Mission Health colleagues contributed to ABCCM over the past year.

In addition, hospital staff participated in a hands-on volunteer project, preparing close to 600 sandwiches to support local food insecurity partners, including 12 Baskets Café, Southside Community Garden and Love and Respect, Community for Recovery and Wellness in Hendersonville.

“At Mission Health, our colleagues are deeply committed to giving back, and it’s inspiring to see the impact they make through both their time and resources,” said Annie Carpenter, Assistant Vice President of Community Engagement at Mission Health. “National Volunteer Month is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate that spirit of service.”

Volunteerism is a core part of HCA Healthcare’s culture. Through the organization’s colleague volunteer program, employees receive a $200 donation to the nonprofit of their choice for every 10 hours they volunteer, further amplifying the impact of their service.

ABCCM is a longstanding nonprofit dedicated to addressing homelessness, poverty and food insecurity across Western North Carolina through a range of programs and services. Mission Health is proud to partner with ABCCM in supporting individuals and families in need and strengthening the communities we serve.

In 2025, Mission Health colleagues contributed more than 10,500 volunteer hours, along with $518,000 in colleague charitable giving and company match, and $750,000 in cash contributions to charitable organizations.
