Throughout Pate’s tenure, she has played a pivotal role in shaping Ardenwoods into a thriving, highly sought-after community for both residents and staff. Her decision to retire reflects a desire to focus on family, friends and personal interests. She will remain in her role through the end of March to help ensure a smooth transition.
“I am deeply grateful for my time at Ardenwoods and for the residents, team members and families who have made this community so special,” Pate said. “I will leave with a full heart and so much appreciation for the years I’ve spent here. I look forward to seeing this community continue to thrive as Sarah and the leadership team carry Ardenwoods forward.”
Stepping into the role of executive director, Marr has been part of the community for nearly 12 years. She began her career at Ardenwoods as its marketing director, later serving as associate executive director and administrator of assisted living.
“Pam has been an outstanding leader who consistently set the bar high,” Marr said. “Whether she was outside shoveling snow after a storm or delivering hot meals to residents, she always made sure everything was running smoothly and everybody was well-cared for. I’m excited to step into this role and continue building on the foundation of care she laid for our team.”
Marr has worked closely with Pate over the years and brings a deep understanding of the community, its residents and its operations. Her longstanding relationships with residents — many of whom she helped welcome to Ardenwoods — position her to smoothly transition into the leadership role, while offering a sense of continuity for the community.
In addition to Marr’s appointment, Ardenwoods has promoted Gena Duncan to assisted living administrator at Heather Glen. With more than 15 years of experience in senior living, Duncan, a dedicated member of the Ardenwoods team who currently serves as marketing manager, steps into the role as part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to developing leadership from within.
“We have a lot of exciting plans on the horizon,” Marr said. “Pam and I have a similar approach to leadership — not just for making residents’ experiences the best they can be, but for our team too. I want to provide as many opportunities as I can for employees to grow and learn new skills, making sure everyone has the tools they need to thrive.”
