Several members of Asheville hospitality industry were honored at the 2026 Stars of the Industry Awards recently in Durham. The N.C. Restaurant and Lodging Association’s annual gala honored the outstanding individuals and teams whose dedication, leadership, and service elevate our state’s hospitality industry.

Local winners included:

Restaurateurs of the Year: William Dissen, Chef & Owner, The Market Place, Asheville

Lodging Operators of the Year: Brenda Durden, COO, South Asheville Hotel Associates, Asheville

Restaurant Employees of the Year: Chris Lovegood, Server, Soprana Rooftop Cucina (Parks Hospitality), Asheville

Lodging Employees of the Year: Thomas Barton, Guest Services Supervisor, Embassy Suites (Parks Hospitality), Asheville
