New Development & Communications Director Named at Mountain Aging Partners

Mountain Aging Partners has appointed Andrew
Schmidt as its new Development & Communications Director,
strengthening the organization’s ability to advance essential services
that help older adults in Western North Carolina remain healthy,
independent, and socially connected as they age.
Schmidt brings more than a decade of experience in nonprofit
advancement, fundraising strategy, and donor engagement. He has held
leadership roles in higher education and healthcare, most recently
serving as Program Officer in the Foundation office at UNC Health
Pardee.
Previously, Schmidt worked as Advancement Analyst at Kanuga Conferences
in Hendersonville, supporting development operations and a successful
$15 million capital campaign.
He began his career at Sewanee: The
University of the South, leading reunion giving and alumni engagement
initiatives.
At Mountain Aging Partners, Schmidt oversees fundraising, donor
stewardship, and strategic communications, with a focus on sustaining
programs such as Meals on Wheels, Community Dining, Caregiver Support,
and Adult Day services.
“Mountain Aging Partners plays a vital role in ensuring the dignity and
well-being of older adults in our community,” Schmidt said. “I’m honored
to support MAP’s mission and to help build the philanthropic
partnerships that make these services possible.”
Schmidt holds a BA in Philosophy from Sewanee and a master’s in Applied
Arts & Sciences from the UNC Greensboro, with academic
concentrations in gerontology, ethical leadership, and systems thinking.
