Asheville’s River Arts District Named Finalist for USA TODAY’s 10BEST Best Arts District

The recognition comes at a pivotal moment for the RAD. After sustaining
significant flood damage from Hurricane Helene in fall 2024, the district has
spent the past year rebuilding, reopening studios, and restoring the creative
ecosystem that has long defined Asheville’s cultural identity. Today, hundreds
of artists and small businesses are back at work, welcoming locals and visitors
alike.
While the 10BEST poll is decided by public vote, the impact can be substantial.
Past community-driven recognitions, such as Asheville’s “Beer City USA” title,
helped elevate local industries on a national stage and drive long-term
economic visibility.
“This nomination is an opportunity to spotlight the resilience, creativity,
and collective spirit of the artists and makers who power the River Arts
District,” said Jeffrey Burroughs, President of River Arts District Artists. “A
win would help amplify the RAD’s recovery story and remind the country why
Asheville’s creative community matters.”
