Winter Bike Commuting 101 to Help Local Cyclists in Cold Weather

Jan 07, 2026 06:52PM ● By WNC Business

Cold weather shouldn’t stop you from commuting to work on your bike.

In fact, an upcoming free clinic will help you prepare for doing so.

Go Mountain Commuting (GoMountain.org) will host “Winter Bike Commuting 101” from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the West Asheville Library (942 Haywood Road).

According to its website, Go Mountain Commuting is “all about moving people in Western North Carolina. We are a program of the Land of Sky Regional Council, which serves Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, and Transylvania Counties.” Its mission is to “promote and support programs, initiatives, and events which build momentum and community around transportation choices that move people. It's not just about commuting, it's any trip that gets you from point A to point B!”

The clinic will focus on winter gear and inclement weather riding tips.

No bikes are necessary for the clinic, which will take place inside.  Check out the flier below:
