May 03, 2025 11:10AM ● By WNC Business

The Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra (HSO) announces lineup for, “Music in the Vines,” a brand-new series of performances this May at Marked Tree Vineyard in Flat Rock. This series will showcase regional ensembles performing a diverse range of music, from classical and jazz to modern pop, all set against the backdrop of the beautiful rolling hills at Marked Tree.

The series begins Friday May 9th with Queen Bee and the Honey Lovers, an Asheville dance band that performs classic swing, blues, and Latin music. They have been voted best in Jazz since 2019 in the Mountain Xpress “Best Of” poll.

The next performance on May 16th features the Meadowlark String Quartet.  Comprised of HSO violinists Mariya Potapova and Jonathan Urizar, violist Daphne Bickley, and cellist Amanda Durst, the Meadowlark String Quartet is more than just a chamber ensemble—it is a compelling mix of contemporary and classical works.

The May 23rd performance will also help to celebrate Marked Tree Vineyard’s 5th Anniversary with Greenville based Guitar/Cello duo, WireWood. This unique duo specializes in instrumental versions of rock and pop songs. You will hear their takes on everything from Frank Sinatra to Metallica to Bruno Mars, with a healthy dose of The Beatles. Their shows are light-hearted and fun, and the music is energetic and beautiful.

The final date will feature the Café String Quartet on May 30th.  Well know throughout Western NC, the CSQ’s musical menu features a variety of flavors, ranging from classical, traditional, jazz standards, to pop and contemporary songs.

“We are excited to kick off the summer of music with Music in the Vines, says Paul Conroy, Executive Director of the HSO.  This new series will feature some of the region’s best string ensembles performing at one of the most beautiful venues in the area.”

All performances will be at the newly opened “Crushpad” at Marked Tree and begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 general admission, and a limited number of reserved tables of 4 are also available.  You can purchase tickets at HendersonvilleSymphony.org or by calling (828) 697-5884.
