South College has promoted Dr. Samantha Sircey to lead South College's Asheville campus.
“Dr. Sircey’s transition to campus president is a seamless process,” South College Chancellor Steve South said. “She has proven herself in her role as dean of Academic and Student Services, has the respect of the faculty, staff, and students, and is the ideal candidate to lead the Asheville campus forward.”
Born and raised in Asheville, Sircey has decades of experience at various educational levels, including serving as a principal at middle and high schools and later shifting into higher education at South College as associate dean and then dean of Academic and Student Services.
“That allowed me to apply my professional skills with a new lens on teaching and learning,” Sircey said. “Working with instructors as they develop and teach adult learners, working with students as they aspire for more and take on the challenges of college, and working with an amazing support staff that meet the needs of each individual student fueled my heart’s passion for education.
“I look forward to my newest adventure as the campus president as we strive to continue to support the students of Western North Carolina.”
Sircey earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from UNC-Asheville in 1995, a Master of School Administration degree in 2010, and Doctor of Education (EdD) degree in School Leadership in 2017 from Western Carolina University. She makes her home in Swannanoa, North Carolina, where Sircey and her husband raised their two daughters.
