Grant opportunity for small business and nonprofits
May 01, 2024 10:12AM ● By WNC BusinessSmall businesses are leaders in creating opportunities for economic mobility. To meaningfully address economic development for North Carolina small businesses, the Duke Energy Foundation has developed a $700,000 grant program to help small businesses thrive. Eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits may apply for a $25,000 - $50,000 grant to establish a microgrant program to support small businesses in their communities.
Similar to the Hometown Revitalization Grants from the past several years, this grant opportunity will allow nonprofit organizations to establish a small-business support microgrant program and deploy the funding within their local community. These microgrants will address economic development for small businesses across targeted communities in NC.
- Grant application is open April 8 - May 17. Decisions will be communicated by end of July.
- Nonprofits are eligible for grants of $25K-$50K
- Microgrants to individual small business may range from $1,000 to $5,000 to be used for renovations, equipment, technology, inventory, etc.
