On February 27, Jackson County Early College students experienced the opportunity to showcase their talents on the Southwestern Community College stage in front of a live audience for the first time.

Created and licensed by Stephanie Kissel, Talent Jam is a nationally-recognized event where job seekers and employers engage through brief 30-second elevator pitches. MountainWest Partnership, SCC Career Services, and Susan Cain's Communications Classes organized this unique opportunity.

Pictured is 15-year-old freshman Willie Knight III as he articulated his strengths using three words: consistency, reliability, and adaptability. Following the event, the aspiring archeologist said this exercise allowed him to work out his fears of public speaking and learn how to concisely and directly explain the values he can bring to his employer.
