The business and professional services industry exists to support all other industries, encompassing a wide variety of services that can take tasks off the plates of business owners.

This industry includes a broad range of business types including services in legal, accounting, graphic design, surveying, research and development, advertising, administrative, consulting, marketing, computer and web design, and more.

According to Riverbird Research, the 2018-2023 jobs growth rate in the business and professional services industry was 21% in an 18-county region of WNC, comparable to the state’s overall jobs growth rate of 23%. 

The 15,403 industry jobs in the region across 3,862 payrolled business locations was 49% lower compared to the national average. The average annual wage of this industry was $71,398.

The business and professional services industry in Buncombe County supported 8,051 of those jobs, followed by Henderson County’s industry business which supported 1,512 of those jobs.
