La Boutique under new ownership

After being in business for 12 years, La Boutique has changed ownership.
Pam Pratt, a locally well-known seamstress, originally opened the storefront on Montgomery Street in the Downtown Waynesville area in March 2011. A few years later, she moved the store to 668 N. Main Street, Waynesville. In addition to the women’s casual clothing and formal dresses, La Boutique also rented men’s formal tuxedos and suits. Pratt also provided the community with alterations and tailoring services.
As of May 1, 2023, Pratt sold the business to entrepreneur Christine Gibson, a long-time Haywood County resident. “After about eight months of looking for retail rental space to open my own boutique, I discovered Pam was looking to retire and sell her well-established business. It was a great opportunity to seize. I spent a few weeks working closely with Pam, learning measurements, how to process the tuxedo and suit orders, and so much more. Pam has been a great help to me, guiding me along the way.”
La Boutique will continue to offer many of the same types of casual and dress wear, as well as tuxedo and suit rentals. Gibson will also offer the much sought-after Kancan denim and Judy Blue denim. As for alteration services, Gibson has this to say, “That is not my field of expertise by any means. However, I currently have one person on staff who is able to hem pants and provide minor repairs. I am currently looking to hire an experienced seamstress/tailor to help provide this service to the community.”
Gibson closed La Boutique for two weeks at the end of May/beginning of June. With the help of staff, family and friends, Gibson worked to paint and reorganize the storefront. The storefront has since reopened and operates Tuesday – Friday from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
La Boutique will host a Grand Re-Opening Celebration and Ribbon Cutting on Thursday, July 13th at 11:00 AM, coordinated by the Haywood Chamber of Commerce. All are welcome to join in the celebration.
