Mountain Aging Partners Celebrates First Anniversary of Historic Merger

Mountain Aging Partners (MAP) recently celebrated a significant milestone: the first anniversary of the merger that brought together the former Council on Aging of Henderson County and MountainCare Adult Day. The October 14 celebration at Southern Williams Vineyard in Fletcher brought together community partners, supporters, staff, board members and friends to recognize not only a successful first year, but the near century of combined service to older adults and caregivers that made the merger possible.
The evening reflected MAP’s theme for the year, “One Year Together — A Century of Caring.” While Mountain Aging Partners is just one year old, the organization represents decades of experience, relationships and commitment to helping older adults live with dignity, connection and independence. The merger created an opportunity to bring those strengths together under one organization and expand the reach of services across Western North Carolina.
Today, MAP provides a broad range of resources designed to help older adults remain connected to their communities and age as safely and independently as possible. From Adult Day services and caregiver support to resource navigation, Meals on Wheels and other programs, MAP works alongside families, healthcare providers and community organizations to address the practical and often complex challenges that come with aging.
The anniversary celebration also recognized the community partners who have embraced MAP’s mission and supported its work throughout the past year. Special thanks were extended to Boys Arnold Wealth Management , HomeTrust Bank McGuire Wood & Bissette Law Firm , and Soukup Strategic Solutions for their sponsorship and commitment to the organization. Their support represents the kind of community investment that allows MAP to continue connecting older adults and caregivers with the resources, relationships and support they need.
As Mountain Aging Partners looks toward its second year, the organization is focused on building on the momentum of the merger while continuing to strengthen services and partnerships throughout the region. The anniversary celebration was both a reflection on how far the organization has come and a reminder of what is possible when a community comes together around a shared commitment: No one ages alone.
