Four Seasons Receives Hospice Elite Recognition

Aug 07, 2026 11:19AM ● By WNC Business
Four Seasons The Care You Trust has received Hospice Elite status under MatrixCare’s Hospice Honors program, which uses data from the CMS Hospice Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey.

The MatrixCare Hospice CAHPS Honors Program identifies high-performing hospice agencies throughout the nation that consistently deliver quality care, as reflected in patient and caregiver experiences. By recognizing agencies that excel in patient satisfaction and quality of care, the program celebrates outstanding achievement and sets a standard of excellence within the hospice industry. It also inspires agencies to continually prioritize the patient experience, fostering trust, compassion, and innovation in hospice services.

MatrixCare selected award recipients based on performance across 22 CAHPS survey questions from April 2025 through December 2025. Its special Hospice Elite designation honors hospices that scored above the MatrixCare National Performance Score on all 22 evaluated questions. Four Seasons was one of only eight hospices in North Carolina, and one of only 72 nationwide, to receive this designation.

“Since 1979, we have been committed to providing the highest quality of care for our community. This recognition of earning a Hospice Elite affirms this commitment. Our team members are deeply committed to providing the most trusted and compassionate care, specific to each patient and family’s needs. We are so thankful to our team and to you, our community. Thank you for allowing us to provide care wherever one calls home,” says Dr. Millicent Burke-Sinclair, Ed.D, MBA, MLAS, SPHR®, SHRM SCP, Four Seasons President & CEO.

“Earning Hospice Elite means so much because it reflects both the heart of our staff and the trust of the caregivers and families we serve. I am proud of our Four Seasons team for the compassion, skill, and love they bring to this work every day. We also deeply admire the caregivers who give so much of themselves, and we are grateful they have allowed us to walk this sacred journey with them,” says Sue Ann Hamby, BSW, MHA, CPHQ, Four Seasons Chief Quality Officer.
