Gallery Mélange Announces Closing After Three Years in Downtown Asheville

Jun 03, 2026 08:31AM ● By WNC Business
Gallery Mélange will officially close its downtown Asheville location on June 5, 2026, concluding a three-year chapter as a collaborative gallery representing the work of four Western North Carolina artists: Victoria Pinney, Mark Bettis, Jeffrey Burroughs, and Rand Kramer.
Since opening in 2023, Gallery Mélange has served as a destination for contemporary art in downtown Asheville, presenting exhibitions that celebrated a wide range of artistic voices and mediums while fostering connections between artists, collectors, and the broader community.
The decision not to renew the gallery's lease reflects a shift in focus toward the artists' individual studios and gallery spaces in Asheville's River Arts District. While Gallery Mélange will close its downtown location, the artists will continue creating, exhibiting, and engaging with collectors through their respective businesses.
The public is warmly invited to join Gallery Mélange for its final First Friday celebration on June 5 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. as part of the Downtown Arts District's monthly Art Walk. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the gallery's final exhibition, meet the artists, and celebrate the relationships and creative community that have defined the gallery over the past three years.
Though the gallery is closing, the artists and connections that shaped Gallery Mélange will continue throughout Asheville and beyond.
Gallery Mélange's final day of operation will be Friday, June 5, 2026.
