Blue Ridge Community College and the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce proudly announce the milestone 30th year of the Vision Henderson County program.

Vision is a premier leadership development initiative dedicated to cultivating informed, engaged, and community-driven leaders. The 2026–2027 program is now accepting expressions of interest through March 31.

“Vision is designed to strengthen and elevate leaders at every stage of their journey,” said Blue Ridge’s Director of Corporate and Customized Training Shanda Bedoian. “Participants gain firsthand insight into Henderson County’s history, resources, and evolving priorities. Through that experience, participants deepen their perspective, expand their networks, and sharpen the skills needed to collaborate effectively and lead initiatives that strengthen our community for decades to come.”

Since its founding in 1996, Vision Henderson County has grown into a highly regarded Western North Carolina leadership program, equipping participants with a comprehensive understanding of the county’s cultural, economic, historical, social, educational, environmental, and governmental resources. Designed to develop a network of committed and informed citizens, the program encourages local collaboration and prepares participants to address community challenges.

Now in its 30th year, Vision cultivates critical thinking, strengthens leadership skills, and connects participants with influential civic, business, and government leaders.

Each year’s cohort begins with an orientation and retreat in August, followed by monthly classes, discussions, and community tours from September through April. The program culminates in a May graduation ceremony.

Class topics include history, government, economic development, law enforcement and emergency services, healthcare, manufacturing, education, environmental issues, and more.

This year, Vision Henderson County’s Executive Director Gary Heisey is joined by Blue Ridge’s leadership and business instructor Ben Kish, who will serve as the program’s new assistant director.
