As organizations prepare for an increasingly complex and fast-changing landscape, the Mission Accelerator program is helping leaders strengthen alignment and plan strategically for the year ahead. The program is provided through a partnership between Blue Ridge Community College and the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce.
According to Gary Heisey, executive director of the Mission Accelerator program, leaders across business, nonprofit, and government sectors are recognizing the importance of conducting an annual year-end organizational review as they face growing uncertainty, change, and public expectations.
“A structured review provides a moment to assess how well the organization is performing and how effectively teams and systems are working together toward shared goals,” Heisey said. “Without this clarity, even strong organizations risk misalignment, inefficiencies, and missed opportunities for growth, sustainability, and impact.”
The Mission Accelerator program is designed as a one-day retreat that guides participants through their annual organizational review while building alignment and momentum for the year ahead. It emphasizes turning insight into action, helping leaders move forward with focus and measurable progress.
“Most importantly, a year-end review creates a foundation for alignment going into the new year,” Heisey said. “When leaders, staff, boards, and stakeholders have a clear picture of where the organization stands, it becomes easier to set priorities, focus resources, and unite teams around a common plan.”
Organizations that commit to regular annual reviews are better positioned to adapt, improve, and move forward together. Through this guided retreat, participants gain clarity on what is working, where adjustments are needed, and how to move into the new year with shared direction and purpose.
The upcoming Mission Accelerator program will be held on January 28, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is open to solo entrepreneurs as well as small to large organizations. Participants may attend as an organization’s manager or owner, or they can bring their teams.
The registration fee is $95 per person. For more information, call Blue Ridge Community College at (828) 694-1910, email [email protected], or visit www.blueridge.edu/mission.
