Davis emphasizes that the initiative is open to all women, not just Chamber members. “We believe that growing together and supporting each other brings together what women uniquely need to flourish,” she says.

The program supports women through networking, mentorship, and professional development. “We provide networking opportunities, leadership development, and resources that help women strengthen their businesses and their voices,” Davis says. “From mentorship and peer connections to professional workshops, we focus on giving women the tools they need to succeed while also celebrating their unique contributions to our local economy.”

WIB’s calendar features consistent events designed to nurture both personal and professional growth. The quarterly Women in Business meetings bring in guest speakers who address topics relevant to women entrepreneurs and professionals. Empower Hour, also quarterly, offers a more social networking format that encourages collaboration. Programs like Leadership Haywood build leadership skills while connecting participants to the broader community, and the Insights & Eggs breakfast series introduces conversations with regional leaders on pressing issues affecting both business and community life.

What makes WIB distinct, Davis says, is its emphasis on collaboration over transactions. “Unlike many programs that focus solely on business development, our group blends professional growth with personal empowerment,” she says. “We emphasize community, collaboration, and real relationships—not just transactions.” That connection to the Chamber also means participants benefit from direct links to the region’s businesses, civic leaders, and community initiatives.

In addition to Davis, the program benefits from the leadership of Haywood Chamber of Commerce board member Emily McCurry, financial advisor with Edward Jones, who serves as WIB chair. Together, they guide a program that continues to expand opportunities for women across Western North Carolina.
