New Appalachian Community Capital Grant for Small Business Owners

Attention Business Owners: ICAP has just opened a micro-grant application for business owners that suffered loss through Hurricane Helene.

Program Overview

Provide financial relief to businesses in Western North Carolina impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Eligibility Criteria

Grants amount: $5,100

Business Operation preferences:

  • Registered and operational for at least one year before Hurricane Helene (verified through NC Secretary of State status)

Documentation Requirements:

  • 2024 business tax returns
  • Year-to-date (YTD) profit and loss (P&L) statement for 2025.
  • Proof of economic or physical loss due to Hurricane Helene (e.g., photos of structural damage, financial impact statements).
  • Copy of valid government issued ID

Approval Process:

  • Applications reviewed through ICAP's internal approval system to ensure eligibility
  • Additional site visits conducted if necessary for verification
  • Selection Priority Businesses with substantial documented losses
  • Those that demonstrate a strong ability to recover with financial support

    *Grant recipients of the Lenovo ICAP grant are not eligible.

Business owners can reach out to ICAP The Institute NC for additional support regarding the grant and also those that may be interested in a loan product. However, currently, they cannot accept any applications that need SBA guarantee due to the government shutdown.
