“I’m humbled to be selected from such a competitive group of candidates,” said Elliott. “I’m excited for the opportunity to be a  part of the future of Caldwell County EMS and the opportunity for growth that exists, both in the service and with our  exceptional staff.” 

Elliott brings 22 years of emergency services experience to his new role. In Caldwell County, he started as a part-time  employee then transitioned to full-time as a paramedic. He was then promoted the community paramedic program as a  sergeant, then to captain as the training coordinator. Before coming to Caldwell County, Elliott worked for Watauga Medics as shift supervisor and quality assurance officer. He also served as a captain for the Linville Fire Department. 

Elliott holds a bachelor’s degree in emergency and disaster management from Western Carolina University and an associate’s  degree in emergency management from CCC&TI. He is also a graduate of UNC-Charlottes School of Professional Studies EMS  Management Institute, and he will complete his master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in emergency  management from Columbia Southern University next summer. 

Elliott holds numerous fire, rescue, and EMS certifications. He is a national registry paramedic, level 2 EMS instructor, level 3  fire instructor, fire officer 2, rescue officer, and rescue technician with specialties in wilderness, ropes, agriculture, and vehicle  and machinery. He also serves as an American Heart Association instructor and National Association of EMT instructor. 

In his new role, Elliott wants to continue the high level of care EMS currently provides. “Providing the highest level of care to  the citizens and visitors of Caldwell County will always be our top priority,” he said, “and I’m grateful to be a small part of us  continuing that standard.
