Susanna Kavanaugh, Executive Director of Least of These Carolinas, states, “We are working toward solving one of the largest problems in the nation – children lingering in the foster care system who aren’t well supported.” Least of These Carolinas positively impacts children in foster and kinship care by providing empowering opportunities and resources. This impact is made through a variety of programs and events, where children with unmet needs gain dignity, self-worth, and learn they are loved and supported. Least of These Carolinas’ reach is expanding, allowing them to pour into vulnerable children throughout the Carolinas and bring further awareness and education to the surrounding areas.

Least of These Carolinas was nominated for this grant by two local Chick-fil-A Owner and Operators, Nolan Hatley and Natasha Gilbert. “Growing up, I worked at Chick-fil-A alongside someone who now has a child that was in the foster care system. This child is now one of my team members. Seeing the effect the system leaves, along with the positive impact Least of These Carolina has left, in a full circle moment has left me a proud supporter of their mission,” says Nolan. Least of These Carolinas believes lasting change happens when a community comes together. They are breaking cycles, creating memories, and building a brighter future for children across North Carolina. For more information, please visit www.lotcarolinas.com.
