ASHEVILLE –  Terra Nova Beer Co, the Asheville-based brewery bringing people, nature, and community closer together, announced the opening of their brewery with their flagship taproom on the South Slope in Asheville. Located at 101 S. Lexington Avenue, the brewery and taproom are designed to be a plant-filled haven from the bustle of downtown. The brewery, taproom, and outdoor beer sanctuary will open to the public on Friday, May 17. Two brand-new beers will be on tap for the opening on May 17: Pine Barrens, an Italian-style pilsner, and Les Fleurs, a Rosé Rice Lager. Terra Nova will host a grand opening celebration in June.

Kyle McKenzie, co-owner and Head of Brewing at Terra Nova, known in the Asheville brewing scene for his devotion to the craft, has developed close to 40 new beers for the brewery, 19 of which are currently available to wholesale and on rotation at the Swannanoa taproom. Brewer Technician Sasha Bynum is working alongside McKenzie on the brewing processes and recipe development. 

In addition to their beer offerings, Terra Nova has curated several food and beverage partners to round out their menu, including a new location of Mission Pizza by James Beard-nominated Chef Peyton Smith and his team, as well as a craft cocktail menu developed with West Asheville’s Golden Pineapple. 

Building on the success of the Terra Nova taproom in Swannanoa, which features verdant moss walls, captivating murals, and abundant green space, the South Slope flagship taproom will include wild and green elements indoors. Sarah Watkins, Co-Owner and Director of Art and Vision, works to ensure the new spaces are in alignment with the Terra Nova name (which means “New Earth”).

Mission Pizza was established in Winston-Salem in 2014 and has developed into the premier pizza brand in the Southeast. Mission brings to Terra Nova its approach to Italian-inspired pizza and small plates, including vegetarian and vegan options and spotlighting local ingredients when possible.
