IT job postings continue trending upwards
Mar 13, 2024 06:17PM ● By WNC BusinessSTATE - The NC Technology Association (NC TECH) has unveiled its latest update on the state's IT job landscape through its new, comprehensive IT Job Trends Dashboard. This resource provides a detailed breakdown of IT positions across North Carolina, highlighting key insights such as top postings by Metropolitan Statistical Area, job titles, required skills and certifications, experience levels, wage trends, and top hiring companies.
"February IT job postings increased for a second consecutive month," stated Andrea Fleming, Director of Talent and Workforce Development at NC TECH. "These figures depict a positive start for tech jobs in 2024," Fleming continued. "Although the numbers are still recovering from some broad fluctuations over the past three years, six months of relatively steady job postings is great to see."
The Bureau of Labor Statistics' February Jobs Report, released last week, indicated another month of higher-than-expected hiring across the US, with continued moderate unemployment at 3.9%. This rate is the highest in two years and marks the 25th straight month with an unemployment rate below 4% - the longest streak of unemployment rates below 4% since the 1960s. The good news is there is a strong labor force participation rate and jobs are being added. However, the slight rise in unemployment is something to watch in the coming months.
