Enka – The Board of Directors for Southeastern Container Inc. announced that Mike Ramos, the current Vice President of Manufacturing, has been elected to take the place of Doug Wehrkamp as SEC’s new President, effective July 1, 2023.
The retirement of Wehrkamp, who has been the company’s President for the past 11 years, was announced by the Board on June 5th. Wehrkamp, who has more than 39 years of PET/HDPE manufacturing experience, has been with the company for 30 years and has been in the top leadership role since 2012. Following the planned transition on July 1st, Wehrkamp will continue in a strategic advisory role through the end of the year to help with the transition.
“I am immensely proud of the work that my team and I accomplished over my time as President,” said Doug Wehrkamp, outgoing President of SEC. “Looking ahead, I am excited to see the success of the organization continue to grow under Mike Ramos’ leadership.”
Ramos, who has more than 30 years of manufacturing and financial management experience in the food and beverage industry, has been with SEC since 2012 and has held a variety of leadership roles within the company. This has included overseeing finance, human resources, customer service and, most recently, manufacturing. Prior to joining SEC, he worked with Group Lactalis and the Kao Corporation. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and holds a BBA in accounting from Texas State University – San Marcos.
“SEC is made up of great people doing extraordinary things, and I couldn’t be more proud or excited to lead them as President,” said Mike Ramos, incoming President of Southeastern Container. “With a seasoned team and a strong foundation, as well as a focus on sustainability and exceeding customer expectations, there is so much more we can accomplish as we move forward together.”
Kirk Tyler, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Southeastern Container, credited Wehrkamp’s steady leadership over the past 10-plus years for the company’s success and role as an industry leader. And, given that Ramos has been with the company over the same time period and worked in a variety of key roles, the Board is confident in the company’s path moving forward under his new leadership.
“Succession planning is important for successful companies, which is why we are pleased to share this planned leadership transition announcement,” said Kirk Tyler, SEC’s Board Chair. “Doug Wehrkamp has been a great leader for us over the past 30 years and we want to thank him for his commitment and service to the company. Likewise, we are confident in Mike Ramos and the skills and knowledge he will bring to-the-table as our next President.”
