In celebration of the Asheville Chamber’s 125th anniversary, the Community Betterment Foundation (501c3 charitable arm of the Chamber) plans to award twelve $10,000 grants to non-profits that support the Chamber in achieving its mission of “Building Community Through Business.” 

As an added bonus, each month of the anniversary year, one grant award winner will be profiled in the Chamber’s communications channels. 

Purpose of the Grants 

One of the guiding principles of the Asheville Chamber is Collaboration. It’s one of the reasons why our tagline is “Together We’re More.” We recognize there is strength in numbers and work with strategic partners and member businesses to accomplish our goals. For our anniversary, we want to recognize non-profit organizations that support the Chamber’s strategies and work alongside us to build long-term economic vitality and viability, solving problems to move the community forward. 

Application Guidelines 

When applying for the 125th Anniversary Grant, applicants acknowledge the following: 

• Applying is not a guarantee of funding. 
• The applying organization must be a Buncombe County-based nonprofit with 501c3 tax exemption status.
• The applying organization must be a member of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce. (See FAQs tab on this page for more information)
• A financial and outcomes report will be required. 
• A signed agreement (including project scope, budget, and reporting terms) will be required. 
• Applications may be for new or existing projects that support the Chamber’s mission in Building Community Through Business. 
• Please note that there is a public vote that is part of the selection process and that involvement in encouraging participation in the popular vote will enhance chances of success.   

Timeline: 

• February 8, 2023 – Application open
• March 31, 2023 – Deadline for applications
• April 14, 2023 – Finalists notified and receive tool kit
• April 14 – September 28 – Tool kit used by non-profits to encourage supporters to vote for their organization and attend the event
• September 28, 2023 – Grants awarded at 125th Anniversary Celebration
