Owning and running a business constantly presents opportunities for growth. Bill Gilliland has owned many businesses over the course of his career, and has been coaching others in business for the last 16 years. You could say he’s learned a thing or two about business.

He first started in corporate, then moved into a family-owned business where he was placed into a leadership role at a young age. He went into business for himself as well, experiencing first-hand the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship. After moving into business coaching 16 years ago, he is enjoying his work and feels that this is his true calling. 

The mission of ActionCOACH Business Coaching is to provide Western North Carolina with abundance through business education. The goal is to reeducate business owners and help them build their business so that they can live the life that they dreamed of living when they started their business in the first place.

Business workshops or seminars cover general principles. He calls his own workshops “edutainment” - having fun and being entertained while learning key aspects that can be helpful in both business and personal growth. Not only does Bill love attending workshops because he can almost always learn at least one new thing or idea, he loves hosting them even more. “It feels great to get people fired up and find inspiration,” says Bill. “It’s amazing to see people have breakthroughs.”

Early in his career, Bill took advantage of all the business education that came his way, but didn’t spend enough time working on himself. When an individual is in business, self-education is just as necessary. “The owner of the business is the lid of the business,” says Bill. The owner demonstrates the level of competency and the mindset for the entire company. If the business is going to grow, its owner and leadership team must grow as well. Bill also stated “Businesses are either growing or they are dying. They cannot stay stagnant, or sooner or later they will begin shrinking. To be valuable in the marketplace, you need to continue to gain more knowledge.”

The Asheville Business Summit will take place on October 5th from 7:40 am to 12:40 pm at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Biltmore Village. For VIPs, there is also an intimate “unplugged” dinner session the evening before, October 4th. 

There will be a presentation portion discussing business education and generalized principles. The expo portion will consist of sponsors and vendors sharing gifts, swag, and information about their specials and offerings. The networking portion offers businesses the opportunity to sit down one on one with Bill or another coach on his team to discuss their own specific business and its current situation and needs. 

This event is geared toward anyone already in business who is looking for inspiration or motivation, anyone who feels stuck or plateaued, and anyone who is growing so fast that they are not sure what to do next. Businesses of all sizes are welcome.
