The award was presented during the Grassroots Connect national show in Reno, Nevada, attended by more than 800 independent outdoor retailers from across the country.
Grassroots Outdoor Alliance recognized Footsloggers for more than a decade of community giving, its longstanding support of local nonprofit organizations, and its commitment to helping children and addressing hunger and homelessness throughout the High Country.
The award also recognized Footsloggers’ response to Hurricane Helene. In the storm’s aftermath, Footsloggers partnered with World Central Kitchen to establish a water distribution station and transform its courtyard into a food-service staging center. For months, members of the Footsloggers team delivered emergency aid across western North Carolina, traveling hundreds of miles to reach communities in need.
“This award belongs to our entire team,” said Wayne Miller, owner of Footsloggers. “Our staff consistently steps forward when our neighbors need help, and their response following Hurricane Helene demonstrated what community means at its best. We are grateful to Grassroots Outdoor Alliance for recognizing work that has always been central to who we are.”
The Community Giveback Award reflects the compassion, dedication, and hard work of the Footsloggers management team and staff in each of the communities the company serves. Giving back to neighbors in need has long been part of the Footsloggers mission and will remain a commitment throughout the organization.
