Artist Margaret Dugger to speak at HCC

Jan 16, 2024 02:46PM ● By WNC Business

Haywood Community College will welcome fiber artist and alum Margaret Dugger to campus on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at noon in the Sycamore building. Dugger will share the history and experiences of her artistic practice, which began at HCC, and how it evolved through her time at The School of the Art Institute in Chicago, IL.

Now, as a professional artist, Dugger will share with the audience about how she made changes in her weaving practice since graduating from HCC and her experiences transferring to a four-year school in this highly-specialized industry.

Her experience has led her to Chicago, IL where she currently resides as a trained artisan handweaver, creating art that reflects the quiet moments of our daily lives. In addition to pursuing her work that has been featured in multiple galleries, Margaret is looking to create spaces for meditation so viewers can slow down, breathe deeply, and look inward while taking in all her artwork has to offer.

This event is available to the community at no charge through the donor support.
