NC TECH's shares monthly Tech Talent Trends Alert

Dec 18, 2023 07:32PM ● By WNC Business

The NC Technology Association has released its monthly snapshot of available IT positions in the state, broken down in several ways (top listings by MSA, job type, skills, certifications).

This monthly Tech Talent Trends Alert is released in the latter half of each month with a snapshot of the previous month as well as a rolling thirteen-month chart of IT job openings in NC so that trends can be seen.

“The November IT job postings remained relatively flat compared to October and September. This trend aligns with the general employment reports both in the United States and specifically in North Carolina, as well as mirroring the usual slowdown in hiring during the final quarter of the year," explained Andrea Fleming, Director of Talent and Workforce Development at NC TECH. "Has the downturn begun to ease? Are we poised for a more promising job outlook in 2024? This year has been a period of uncertainty for the economy, and many are eagerly anticipating a fresh start in the new year."

Apart from the IT Job Posting figures, NC TECH's monthly report highlights the most sought-after credentials. “Cybersecurity expertise remains the dominant skillset sought after by NC employers," stated Fleming. Highlighting the Bureau of Labor Statistics' forecast of a substantial 32% growth in these positions over the next decade, Fleming emphasized North Carolina's favorable stance in accommodating this increase. She highlighted, "The state's influx of new residents and the diverse educational opportunities in cybersecurity place North Carolina in an advantageous position for future growth."
