Alva Wallis recognized by Department of Defense

Alva Wallis of Southeast Physician Services was recognized with a Patriotic Employer Award from the U.S. Department of Defense for contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force. Employer support enhances retention rates in the Armed Forces and, in the end, strengthens our national security.

Wallis has been the CEO of Southeastern Sports Medicine since 2006, and was previously the COO at Westcare Health System. Wallis leads with the same values the army supports all activities that improve the well being of the workforce at Southeastern. He mentored several employees, challenged him to grow their leadership skills, set a high bar for them to shoot for, and enjoys watching them succeed on their own. He helped organize and manage coverage for very large sports medicine practice run practice, building from three doctors to a successful orthopedic practice.

The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve grants a series of Department of Defense awards to recognize employers who support their Guard and Reserve employees. Recognizing supportive employers is vital to ESGR's mission. ESGR's 54 State Committees actively promote awards as a key element in furthering employer support, while strengthening relationships between service members and employers. These Department of Defense awards honor the sacrifices made by employers year after year.
