Three employees from UNC Health Appalachian have been chosen as recipients of the Mountain Mover Award for the third quarter. Janet Braswell, a member of the Environmental Services team, was honored in the Avery Healthcare Market. Danielle Lee, representing AppGastro, received the award from Appalachian Regional Medical Associates, while Chad Carpenter, part of the Central Patient Transport, was recognized by Watauga Medical Center.

The Mountain Mover Award was established to commend excellence among non-nursing team members who exhibit outstanding performance, creativity, innovation, leadership, customer service, teamwork, professionalism, adaptability, continuous learning, community involvement, and a positive attitude.

Every quarter, one employee from each of the following areas will be selected for the award: Avery Healthcare Market (Cannon Memorial Hospital and Appalachian Regional Behavioral Health), Watauga Medical Center, and Appalachian Regional Medical Associates.

Danielle Lee of AppGastro was selected as the Mountain Mover for Appalachian Regional Medical Associates. Her nomination form read: “During a time AppGastro was very short staffed. She stepped up and took on additional responsibilities to help the office to continue running. She took on additional learning and certifications. She always makes time to stop and help co-workers when they are in need.”

Janet Braswell from the Environmental Services team was the selection for Avery Healthcare Market. One of her four nomination forms read: “Janet’s actions positively impact the patients and co-workers by creating a positive, clean, and well- maintained environment. Janet is just like your grandma, and she has become known for baking people birthday cakes on their birthday. She ensures that every single employee receives a birthday cake and even asks what type of cake they would like.”

Chad Carpenter of Central Patient Transport was chosen as the Mountain Mover for Watauga Medical Center. His nomination form read: “Chad is a hard worker and is not afraid of putting in the work to perform his job to the best of his ability. He is great with patients as well as co-workers. If he doesn’t know the answer to a question, he will find someone who will. He never leaves you hanging if you need anything at all.”

Nominations for the next Mountain Mover Award must be submitted by December 31st.
