Al and Rhonda Glicksberg are celebrating the 10th anniversary as owners of BrightStar Care of Asheville.

Formerly working as a registered nurse and a school principle, the Glicksbergs also previously owned a preschool. After falling in love with Asheville and relocating from the Miami area, they seized an opportunity to purchase the BrightStar franchise from its previous owners who opened the practice in 2009.

“Based on our background of caring for others, we decided to focus on this new area of care,” Rhonda Glicksberg said. “We liked BrightStar’s Joint Commission accreditation, their high standards of care, and the ability to incorporate skilled nursing into our practice. It was the perfect fit.”

Al Glicksberg said embracing the core values of BrightStar’s franchise system has allowed their business to grow and continue offering their services around the WNC region. They strive to hire great people and take care of their caregivers, allowing them to offer the best care possible. They also sponsor the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Asheville, and partner with Veteran’s Affairs and Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly to help offer care to those for which private payment may be cost-prohibitive.

Over the last 10 years, BrightStar Care of Asheville has expanded to offer physical therapy and occupational therapy in addition to their in-home care and medical staffing services. The Glicksbergs said they are also searching for a location near Henderson or Transylvania County for a satellite office in order to further expand the availability of their services.
