HENDERSONVILLE – AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to introduce you to the newest DAISY Award winner. Matthew Young, BSN, RN works in the Medical/Surgical Unit at AdventHealth Hendersonville.

Young is committed to providing his patients with compassionate care during their stay in the Medical/Surgical Unit at AdventHealth. One of his recent patients was very impressed with his reassuring medical knowledge and calm demeanor. In her nomination, she shared that he communicated the plan for pain management and listened to her questions and concerns. He stands out in her memory for his confidence and compassion. 

“He always made me feel comfortable because of his calm and confident nature,” she remembers. “He gave great care in a compassionate manner. He would explain when he would be back. I know there were other patients to take care of, but I felt like a priority on his shift. He made sure I was taken care of before his shift ended.”

Young’s patient went on to share how grateful she is for all his help during her stay at AdventHealth Hendersonville. She adds, “I appreciate Matt’s professional, calm and compassionate nature and am happy to recommend him for this award.”

AdventHealth Hendersonville is honored to recognize Matt Young as the new DAISY Award winner.

The DAISY Award was created by the family of J. Patrick Barnes in 1999 to thank the nurses who cared for Barnes and for them as he battled an autoimmune disease. Barnes lost his battle, but his family realized the impact his nurses had on the final days of his life. For that, they wanted to create an opportunity for all families who experience the benefits of the extraordinary care of nurses to show their appreciation.
